Between the Process and the Promise

On December 31 we had a youth service and lock-in. This the sermon that Bro. Jaken Orten preached along with a Q&A Session held over pizza with your familiar cohosts.

Yes, we acknowledge Christmas is technically over, but as Matthew West says, “The Light of the world is still here.” Also we aren’t talking about much of the per se “Christmas Story.” We are however featuring Christmas clips such as our opening clip, the song “Where are you Christmas,” from the Grinch movie.

In “The Polar Express” a quote is debated a bit is it that “Seeing is Believing” or is it “Believing is Seeing.” The Biblical Christmas story contains quite a bit of this debate as well. Let’s talk about those who believed to see the appearance of Jesus on this Earth!

When Jesus was still a toddler, a story unfolded that has become an iconic part of the Christmas story began to unfold. It has parts that are entirely beautiful, but it was not all beautiful fuel for the Christmas songs. What happened that night, and how can it help us in our own modern moment?

An exasperated young boy screams out in frustration at his commercialized friends.. even his beagle. Featured in this episode is the answer that Linus gives in the movie “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” And then we endeavor to explain the answer a bit more in detail.

In this conclusion to our two part series on words that are not found in the text of Scripture, we tackle one of the most critical issues of doctrine: the very nature of God.
